End Citizen United Pushing the Positive Reform of Campaign Finance Rules

By | January 8, 2018

End Citizens United is a political action committee that is dedicated to blocking the ways the mega-donors in the United States are manipulating the government and finding ways to fund the election campaigns by illicit manner. The End Citizen United was established in the year 2015 to protest and fight against the Supreme Court judgment on how the election campaigns finance rules can function. In 2010, there was a legal battle between the Citizens United and FEC in which the final verdict given by the Supreme Court said that the corporations and wealthy individuals could provide the practically infinite amount of funds during the elections without the need of any transparency or accountability. It has created an imbalance in the election that needs to be evened out for the benefit of the country and its people.

The good thing about End Citizen United is that it is entirely funded by the funds provided by grassroots donors. It means that the organization is not funded by any corporation or wealthy individuals who have hidden agenda behind supporting the elections and their choice of political candidates. It is often seen that the wealthy individuals and companies support the election of the political parties and candidates and when they come to power, the decisions made by the government are often in the interest of these selected few individuals and corporations. It compromises the attention of the majority of the country’s population as well as the nation. The End Citizen United wants to unite people against such practices so that the government and the Supreme Court takes action that helps in changing policies that only favors the affluent section of the society.

Tiffany Mueller is the President of End Citizen United, and she says that the End Citizen United aims to collect a total of $35 Million to fund the reformers and politicians who feel the same way about the campaign finance rules. It is the short-term target that EUC has for now, and it is the part of the more significant plan that EUC is working to transform the way the campaign finance rules are structured completely. She says that it would take time and patience for sure, but Tiffany Mueller is confident that people would eventually come to know about the ways that the affluent people and corporations are using to destruct the rights of the people and manipulate the government. Recently, Donald Trump called for the repeal of the age-old Johnson Amendment that would allow the corporations to channel their money discreetly through church and charities. However, the bill was blocked in the Senate, and Tiffany Mueller said that it is this small victories that would eventually lead to their primary goal.
